Brookfield Free Range Eggs has been a stall at the Market for many years. Dominic Palumbo and his partner Helen Davies purchased Brookfield in 2018 after looking for something ‘different’ to do. Initially they were looking for one acre but ended up with five acres, 2000 chickens and 60 ducks!
Dom immigrated to New Zealand from Italy as a young teenager and has been here for over 30 years. His first job was working in his step-father’s glass houses after school in The Wood. He spent many years in retail and management before taking over Brookfield Free Range Eggs.
Brookfield Free Range Eggs are renowned for their flavour. The hens and ducks have a carefree life roaming around the property that is farmed using organic practices. They have plenty of shelter and a place to roost overnight and are fed organic food.
Dom really likes that the Nelson Farmers Market is different from other Markets because it is a food only Market where the growers sell direct to the public. We are truly local and products are fresh. This is our point of difference. He also likes how it is a compact market, full of friendly people, and there is a relaxed family environment.
